CARRIE: another gem of a movie i never watched before until tonight! who knew i was missing out on so much. i am obsessed with this movie! brian de palma is amazing. how fucking fantastic and deliciously creeptastic! not only that, it's the freaking '70s when everything was a million times cooler than anything today. tommy ross in his flared jeans and his blond curly locks? i'm so swooning.
i also recently watched let the right one in and i have to say, despite the fact that it's a vampire movie (twilight anyone?), i think i really enjoyed it. (i didn't think i did at the time, but the more i think about that film, the more i become smitten with it). the soundtrack is so haunting and beautiful, and heartbreaking. and the boy, how precious is he? i learned about the film (which is an adaptation of a book) when i saw the trailer for the american remake entitled let me in. i know how america likes to butcher perfectly fine foreign films with remakes so i decided to watch the original instead, but i heard a lot of good reviews for the remake as well so i'm hoping to see it soon.
the shining and misery are probably my other top favorite scary movies if i had to pick. they're both based on stephen king novels (as is carrie), yet i never read any of his books. i guess i should check them out. ok bye.

i remember when you told me that you used to watch scary movies all by yourself in the dark, tucked beneath a blanket, and I thought "damn, this girl is hardcore!"
